Andrea Migno smashes the opposition in FP3 with a stunning lap around Jerez, looking very fast and confident this weekend.

Clear early morning skies over Jerez de la Frontera this morning at the start of FP3 – the fight for qualifying spots begins.

Pedro Acosta went down mid-session, losing the front into Turn 6. This is his first crash as a Moto3 World Championship rider, but he got up unscathed and rode back to the pits. He was back out with his teammate in tow 10 minutes later. He goes through Q1, however, after not being able to set a good lap. He seemed to have trouble stopping the bike, backing it into corners and generally looking very uncomfortable.

Swiss rider, Jason Dupasquier has had a brilliant start to the weekend. He has surprised the field this weekend and goes through to Q2 in 12th.

Tatsuki Suzuki set the pace for the early majority of the session. He had a bit of a close one with Sergio Garcia in the penultimate corner. Suzuki sat up in the very fast corner without warning and Garcia had to take avoiding action, not without any arm waving. Suzuki advances to Q2.

Rookie, Izan Guevara sat 3rd in the session for a good length of time. He has come into the championship and shown his prowess, by being towards the front in almost all of the rounds so far, but he finished the session in 22nd, and so has to go through Q1 later today.

British rider John McPhee started putting laps together with 10 minutes to go. He needed to improve to get into Q2, and did just that. He went 2nd with just under 3 minutes left of the session. He ended up in 3rd after setting a good lap and then going off down pitlane, thus avoiding the last-minute dash to get a lap in. He looks like he will be a strong contender for a decent grid spot.

His Petronas Sprinta Racing teammate Darryn Binder looked calm throughout, and is in Q2 thanks to a good lap. He was pushing though, almost losing the rear, braking into Turn 6 in the bottom of shot with 5 minutes of the session to go. He ended the session in 5th just behind Argentinian, Gabriel Rodrigo.

Red Bull KTM Tech3 rider Deniz Oncu set a great lap towards the end of the session to go top. He ended FP3 in 2nd so will advance straight to Q2. The Turkish rider went down with Sergio Garcia. He had a moment at Turn 8 which put him on the outside for Turn 9. Sergio Garcia had his own crash, collecting Oncu on his way into the gravel. Garcia goes through Q1 after finished the session in 24th. This is certainly not where he belongs.

Rivacold Snipers Team rider Andrea Migno set a late flyer, 0.417 faster than the rest! A quite unbelievable lap from the Italian. His teammate Filip Salac also had a great session, finishing in 6th.

Leopard Racing’s Xavier Artigas finished the session in 9th, and so is in Q2, whilst his podium-finishing teammate, Dennis Foggia, finished the session in 20th. He must work on his consistency if he is in with a shout this season.

Gabriel Rodrigo and Niccolo Antonelli are also through to Q2 thanks to yesterday’s lap times. They both didn’t improve this morning. They finished FP3 in 4th and 8th respectively.

Some big hitters in Q1 later today sets us up for two very exciting sessions. It won’t be one to miss!

Moto3’s Q1 session will begin at 12:35pm Local Time (GMT +2).
