Jason O’Halloran Leaves Donington Park On A High Having Put in The Fastest Lap Time Of The Final Testing Schedule.
For the start of the final session of the day it was McAMS Yamaha’s Jason O’Halloran who was at the top of the timing sheets followed by FS-3 Kawasaki’s Lee Jackson, with BMW’s Kyle Ryde hot on their tails in third place. Kyle’s team-mate Brad Ray had a better start to the session in seventh place.
Powerslide/Catfoss Racing Suzuki’s Bjorn Estment was having a good session just outside the top 15, with rookie FS-3 Kawasaki’s Rorry Skinner just in front of him. Bridewell was out-side the top ten in 13th place having suffered a few technical problems throughout the day. Half way through the session Tarran Mackenzie made his way up-to fourth place, the Leicestershire rider was having a much better day at his home track than at the previous tests.
VisionTrack Ducati’s Christian Iddon got himself up-to second place chasing O’Halloran with just a gap of 0.226s between them whilst team-mate Josh Brookes was behind in sixth place. Kawasaki’s Ryan Vickers was having a better session making his way up-to fifth place with FHO Racing BMW’s Peter Hickman just in front in fourth place.
With minutes to go BMW’s Kyle Ryde put a flying lap in and claimed the top spot and so did Honda’s Glenn Irwin but it was only good enough for second position pushing O’Halloran to third place. Tarran Mackenzie then knocked Kyle off the top spot with minutes to go and just 0.098s between them. With literally seconds to go Tarran’s team-mate O’Halloran just edged in front of him and put a lap time in of 1:05.725 just 0.184s between the team-mates! Kyle Ryde finished in third place, Glenn Irwin slipped down the order to finish in fourth. Brookes and Iddon finished in sixth and eighth respectively, with BMW’s Peter Hickman rounding off the top ten in tenth place.
McAMS Yamaha’s Jason O’Halloran was rider of the day yet again and team-mate Mackenzie wasn’t not too far behind him, it was a very successful day for the McAMS Yamaha Team. That is it now for the Bennetts British Superbike Testing Schedule, the 2021 season opener at Oulton Park is only just over two weeks away on 25/26/27 June. It’s fair to say Jason O’Halloran certainly has the pace to take the championship fight to reigning champion and fellow country man Josh Brookes, along with the rest of the Superbike field, who will all be hoping to claim the 2021 Bennetts British Superbike Title.
