Glenn Irwin Takes His Second Pole Position Of The 2021 Season At Snetterton.
VisionTrack Ducati’s Christian Iddon and RAF Regular & Reserve Kawasaki’s Ryan Vickers had to start the day going into Q1, not usually where we are used to seeing both of the riders. Ryan Vickers is struggling with a knee injury and it definitely seems to be hampering the young Thetford rider.
The Q1 session got under-way under cloudy cool conditions, it was VisionTrack Ducati’s Christian Iddon who led the way followed by Honda’s Dan Linfoot. BMW’s Kyle Ryde was just out of the Q2 qualifying positions in eighth place.
At the end of the Q1 session the top six qualifiers for Q2 were Christian Iddon, Ryan Vickers, Dan Linfoot, Takumi Takahashi, Storm Stacey and Joe Francis respectively, Kyle Ryde just missed out on a Q2 spot in seventh place.
Glenn and Andrew Irwin set the pace early in Q2 followed by FHO Racing’s Peter Hickman in third place. With minutes remaining Jason O’Halloran was up-to second place, with team-mate Tarran Mackenzie in third. Iddon was still off the pace down in 11th place, team-mate Brookes was in eighth place. With literally seconds to go Brookes went up the inside of Iddon at Murrays and both Ducati riders went down.
At the checkered flag Glenn Irwin took his second Pole Position of the season so far, with Jason O’Halloran in second and Tarran Mackenzie in third place. Peter Hickman finished in fifth place, he was on for a flying lap but BMW’s Brad Ray was touring back to the pits and got in Hickmans way, needless to say Hickman was not happy!
Race One is this afternoon at 16:30
