The O Show Topped The Time Sheets On The Final Day Of Testing At The Norfolk Circuit Of Snetterton.

For the final day of the Bennetts British Superbike testing at Snetterton would we see another new rider’s name at the top of the timing sheets, so far SYNETIQ BMW’s Danny Buchan has topped two sessions, MCE Ducati’s Josh Brookes and McAMS Yamaha’s Jason O’Halloran both topped a session yesterday. Buildbase Suzuki’s Danny Kent was unable to compete in today’s testing due to his GSX-R1000R not been fixed in time from his off in yesterday’s final testing session.

The first session of testing got under-way with cloudy weather conditions and the track temperature was lower than yesterday. Lee Hardy Racing’s Leon Haslam was the first rider out on track, followed by PR Racing’s Dan Jones and NP Racing’s Sam Cox.

Due to the colder weather conditions at the half-way stage of the first session there were only nine riders out on track. Liam Haslam was the fastest rider on track followed by Oxford Products Ducati’s Tommy Bridewell.

At the checkered flag Suzuki’s Christian Iddon topped the session, Haslam finished second, Honda’s Takumi Takahashi finished third and Bridewell was fourth. Only 10 Superbike riders made it out on track for the first session of the day.

Session one

All 29 riders were out on track for the second session of the day as the weather conditions were better. After three laps in it was a FS-3 Racing one-two as Rory Skinner was in first place with his team-mate Lee Jackson in second place. RICH Energy OMG’s Kyle Ryde had a technical problem after only completing a lap and had to pull out of the session.

At the half-way mark of the session Rory was still at the top of the timing sheets with MCE Ducati’s Tom Sykes up-to second place, Jackson was in third place in front of FHO Racing’s Peter Hickman. Crowe Performance BMW’s Chrissy Rouse was the highest placed rookie in 13th place.

With four minutes to go BMW’s Danny Buchan put the fastest lap in followed by McAMS Yamaha’s Jason O’Halloran, Skinner was pushed down to third place, until Yamaha’s Bradley Ray took the third place spot from the young Scottish rider.

Skinner crossed the finish line in first place at the end of the second session of the day, with a lap time of 1:46.735 which is under the lap record that was set by Shayne Byrne in 2017. Brad Ray was just 0.233s behind in second place, Jason O’Halloran was third, team-mate Tarran Mackenzie finished in seventh place, Ducati’s duo Sykes and Brookes finished in eighth and ninth place respectively.

Session Two

The final testing session got under-way with just 26 riders on track, MCE Ducati rider’s Brookes and Sykes did not take part in the final session, Kyle Ryde was also missing from the session due to his mechanical problem he had in the previous session.

Ten minutes into the session Rory Skinner was in first place from Bridewell and Jason O’Halloran, Mackenzie was up-to fourth place and very much on the charge as two laps later he went to the top of the timing sheets with a lap time of 1:47.156. With ten minutes remaining to the session Danny Buchan crashed whilst he was in tenth position.

With minutes to go it was Mackenzie from Skinner and O’Halloran, Iddon crashed out at Murrays whilst he was in down in 14th place. Ryan Vickers got up to fifth place just in front of Lee Jackson. Jason O’Halloran put in a blistering lap of 1:46.571 and ended the testing session in first place, Brad Ray was second, Skinner was third, Mackenzie fourth and Bridewell was fifth.
