Bradley Ray Takes A Dominate Win At Cadwell Park To Close The Gap At The Top Of The Championship Standings.

The Bennetts British Superbike Championship is at Cadwell Park for round seven of the championship. The British weather yet again was providing perfect racing conditions at the Lincolnshire circuit. The Superpole qualifying format returned for round seven, OMG Racing’s Bradley Ray put the fastest lap in to take his second pole position of the 2022 season, joining Bradley on the front row of the grid for the Ebay Sprint race was FS-3 Racing’s Rory Skinner and Lee Jackson.

Bradley Ray got the holeshot into Coppice, Tom Sykes got a good start getting into third place. Peter Hickman got beat up in the first few corners and was down in ninth place. Danny Buchan tried to make a pass on Sykes but Danny clipped the Ducati’s mans back wheel causing them both to lose positions.

Rory Skinner took first place at the Gooseneck, Lee Jackson crashed at the Mountain, causing Takumi Takahashi to run into the back of Kyle Ryde, PR Racing’s Dan Jones had nowhere to go and hit Lee Jackson’s bike, the incident brought out a red flag.

The race was restarted over 12 laps, Lee Jackson and Takahashi weren’t able to make the restart due to their bikes being too damaged, Dan Jones was escorted to the medical centre, we wish him a speedy recovery.

The race was restarted with the original grid positions, Brad Ray got the holeshot into Coppice, Jason O’Halloran got into third place. With two laps gone Ray started to pull a gap on second place man Rory Skinner.

Josh Brookes was down in 14th place whilst his team-mate was in fifth place until Tommy Bridewell slipped underneath Sykes to take the fifth position. Brad Ray set a new race lap record after just four laps of the race, Bridewell then went faster and set a new record lap time of 1:25.950!

There was a battle going on for third place between O’Halloran, Buchan and Bridewell. Ray was still out of reach for Skinner to be able to make a pass for first place. Buchan took the third place spot from O’Halloran, Buchan is still seeking his first podium finish of the 2022 season.

There was a freight train of seven riders battling for seventh place, from Leon Haslam to Ryan Vickers. Chrissy Rousse crashed out at Mansfield on lap 10, the Newcastle-Upon-Tyne rider lost the front end. Tom Sykes was taken out by Christian Iddon at Mansfield a lap later, an unfortunate end for Tom’s race.

Ray crossed the finish line to take his fourth victory of the 2022 season, Rory Skinner was second with Buchan holding on to third place, O’Halloran was fourth, Bridewell finished in fifth place. Ray has reduced the gap in the championship to first placed man Jason O’Halloran by 12 points.
