BSB: Mar-Train Racing Step It Up a Class to Make British Superbike Championship Debut at Donington Park.

By Dawn Hammersley
Jack Kennedy and Mar-Train Racing Prepare for Their First Round in the Bennetts British Superbike Championship.
Mar-Train Racing and Jack Kennedy will make their Bennetts British Superbike debut this weekend as the Championship makes its return to Donington Park for the penultimate round of the season.
The Dubliner will be on board a Mar-Train prepared R1 with direct help from Yamaha and Raceways for the final two rounds of the Championship as the series tackles the Grand Prix layout of the iconic Leicestershire circuit.
Kennedy made an impression in the 2022 British Supersport season after he became the most successful Supersport rider in the series’ history after he dominated the Championship for the fourth time.
Mar-Train will be using this weekend as a learning curve for the team. Their goal is to make Jack feel as comfortable as possible on the R1 and to take those small steps moving forward.
Jack Kennedy
I am really excited for our transition to Superbike – I am under no illusion how difficult it is going to be, but I am prepared and focussed.
I’m approaching the weekend with the same focus and calmness I would approach a Supersport weekend. I will make the most out of this weekend and learn as much as I can, especially the new format which is the main thing that is going to be different for me this weekend.
I’m excited but obviously a little bit nervous but I can’t wait to get going. I can’t wait to see the R1 in the Mar-Train colours and the team – you could say I’m like a kid at Christmas!
Tim Martin – Mar-Train Racing Team Owner
The weekend has finally arrived – Mar-Train is in BSB! As a team when we started 18 years ago, we would never have thought that we would be running a team in the British Superbike Championship class.
It’s taken many years of building up to this and we are all very proud to make the step.
Retaining Jack’s service for 2023 is an added bonus and to have direct help from Yamaha and Raceways makes the transition that little bit easier. We are under no illusion that the next two rounds will be extremely difficult as Jack and the team have had no time to test the Superbike. Free Practice one will be a first for Jack and the team.
The goal is to make Jack comfortable, to keep learning and continue to take small steps to improve.
