BSB: Tommy Bridewell is Crowned the 2023 Bennetts British Superbike Champion.

Tommy Bridewell is the new BSB 2023 champion after an epic race with Glenn Irwin and Kyle Ryde.

For the final race of the 2023 Bennetts British Superbike championship, Tommy Bridewell was on pole position, Ryan Vickers lined-up in second place with Jason O’Halloran rounding out the front row. Tommy goes into the final race with just a five and a half championship point lead from team-mate Glenn Irwin.

For the final time the lights go out, Ryan Vickers lead the pack of superbike riders into Paddock Hill Bend. Vickers was leading the way, until Tommy took the lead at Hawthorns. Glenn Irwin was in sixth place, Kyle Ryde was in third place.

Kyle passed his team-mate for second place, Glenn was in fourth place. Kyle passed Bridewell at Dingle Dell to take charge of proceedings.

Glenn was trying his best to pass Vickers, Ryan was holding his own in third place. Glenn made his move on lap six, he now had his team-mate in his sights.

Glenn made a block pass on Tommy at Surtees for second place, Bridewell lost momentum and lost another position to Vickers.

Bridewell was sitting in fourth place until the approach to Hawthornes, he made a move on Vickers for third place. Glenn was on Ryde’s back wheel, just waiting for the right time to make his move. Kyle was riding the perfect race out at the front, the Yamaha rider was doing all he could to keep his championship title hopes alive.

Glenn made a move on Ryde at Hawthornes on lap 11, Irwin was now ahead in the championship standings. Tommy needed to pass Kyle for second place to put him back leading the championship standings.

Tommy passed Kyle and retook the championship lead on lap 13, Ryde wasn’t giving up on the second place, both Bridewell and Ryde were closing in on Glenn by lap 16.

It was chaos at Druids between all-three riders! Ryde came off leading the race, Glenn was in second place, Tommy was in third place. Tyre wear was also coming into play too!

Glenn passed Kyle on the penultimate lap, Glenn was ahead yet again in the standings. Bridewell passed Kyle at Druids, Tommy was now leading the standings again!

Tommy Bridewell is your 2023 Bennetts British Superbike champion, what a race! Tommy won the championship by half a point.
