Enea Bastianini returned to the top step of the rostrum in Malaysia after a poor 2023 season.

After Alex Marquez won the Sprint Race yesterday the factory Ducati boys had a point to prove. The front row was locked out by three Ducati riders, which were: Francesco Bagnaia, Jorge Martin and Enea Bastianini.

Compared to some thrilling Malaysian Grands Prix in the past the 2023 version was nothing special. As the lights went out it was the Italian factory Ducati rider of Bastianini who hit the front of the race.

In the past we had become used to seeing Bastianini dominate races, something which we had not seen yet in 2023. But ‘The Beast’ returned to his best as he was undisturbed at the front of the Malaysian Grand Prix and went on to win his first Grand Prix in the 2023 season.

Alex Marquez backed up his Sprint Race victory from yesterday by finishing in second place in the main Grand Prix. The Gresini Ducati rider had a near perfect weekend in Malaysia.

Bagnaia went on to complete a Ducati lock out as he finished in third place, as he extended his lead in the MotoGP World Championship. Martin could not stick with Bagnaia and could only manage to finish in fourth place.

The Yamaha duo of Fabio Quartararo and Franco Morbidelli had a decent Sunday and both managed to get top ten finishes. The French rider managed to score a top five finish as he finished fifth and his Italian team-mate finished in seventh.

KTM had a rather mediocre race as Jack Miller finished eighth and Tech3 riders, Augusto Fernandez and Pol Espargaro, rounded out the points in 14th and 15th. But Brad Binder crashed out of the race.

Three other Ducati riders rounded out the top ten as Marco Bezzecchi finished sixth, Fabio Di Giannantonio finished in ninth and Luca Marini rounded out the top ten.

Aprilia’s only race finisher was Maverick Vinales who crossed the line in 11th, while all other three Aprilia riders did not finish. Honda also struggled as their best rider was Marc Marquez who crossed the line in 13th.
