Alex Lowes found his way back to the top step of the podium in the Superpole Race, as he claimed his first race win since Phillip Island in 2020.

After Nicolo Bulega stamped his mark on the World Superbike paddock by winning his first ever race on a Superbike many expected the same again. However, World Superbike veteran and former British Superbike Champion, Alex Lowes, had other ideas.

The British rider was unstoppable once he hit the front and never looked back, with a decent record at Phillip Island the now lead Kawasaki rider has started the 2024 season with a fourth place and a race win.

Andrea Locatelli claimed back to to back second places a the Italian secured another podium in the Sprint Race on Sunday morning. The Yamaha rider fought his way through the field from down in 10th place all the way up to second to claim his second podium of the year.

When Toprak Razgatlioglu made the move from Yamaha to BMW many wondered when he would get his first podium with the German manufacturer. The Turkish rider has already answered that question as it only took him two races to find his way back to the podium as he finished in third place.

Alvaro Bautista made progress in the second race of the weekend as the two-time WorldSBK Champion found his way back towards the podium as he finished in fourth place. Just behind Bautista was his hotshot rookie team-mate, Bulega. The young Italian finished fifth place in his second ever WorldSBK race.

The GYTR GRT Yamaha duo finished behind the Aruba.it Racing – Ducati duo in sixth and seventh. Home hero Remy Gardner fought for a podium early on in the race but ultimately had to settle for a sixth place finish. Dominique Aegerter may have had a difficult pre-season, but his opening round has shown promise as the Swiss rider finished in seventh place.

Sam Lowes claimed his first WorldSBK top ten in only his second race of the season as the Marc VDS Ducati rider finished his first Superpole race in eighth place. Former factory Ducati rider, Michael Ruben Rinaldi, finished the second race of the season in ninth place overall, securing the final point of the race.

British riders Jonathan Rea, Scott Redding, Bradley Ray and Tarran Mackenzie found themselves outside of the points on Sunday morning. Rea finished in tenth place, a better showing than his 17th place in the opening race of the season. However, Scott Redding did find himself down in 17th as the lowest BMW rider in the race. Bradley Ray finished in 21st place after a crash early on in the race and Tarran Mackenzie did not finish.
