The eagerly awaited 2024 R&G British Talent Cup (BTC) comes under starters orders with the first official test and a 3 race event 18th – 21st April In Northern Spain at the newly modernized MSVR Circuito De Navarra.

Our 2023 series champion Evan Belford moves on to pastures new taking a well-deserved promotion in to the FIM Junior GP Championship and Red Bull Rookies. Belford leaves behind him a new generation of fuel injected inspired youngsters with no less than eight rookies joining the ranks of the fans favourite British Superbike support class. Other notable Talents have also graduated from the class, Sullivan Mounsey, Harrison Desoy, Rhys Stephenson and Alfie Davidson – All of us at Short Shift news wish them well in their future careers.

Four Times a race winner in 2023 Spanish based Amanuel Brinton will spearhead the RS Racing Kovora projects team and starts as the bookies favourite for 2024 honors with team mate Ronnie Harris looking to continue his strong ending to last season’s campaign. Race winner in 2023 Filip Surowiak also joins the RS Racing talent factory. Harley McCabe will be aiming for the top step of the podium riding in his own private Honda NSF 250 machine. American Julian Correa heads the experienced Microlise Creswell team and no doubt will be a front runner this season.

The newly formed SENCAT Mortimer Talent Team includes the ever consistent Lucas Brown and Northern Irelands Alexander Rowan, both capable of making a big impact in 2024. Ryan Frost another Spanish based Brit will make his debut for Michael Laverty’s Mlav team, with reliability and consistency Ryan will certainly be a contender throughout the year.

With the Spanish circuit new to the R&G BTC calendar we could see some surprises on the fresh tarmac, Ollie Walker (Mlav), Eli Banish (Mlav), Charlie Huntingford , Scott McPhee and Harrison Mackay (Wilson Racing) all ready to step up their game in Spain. Talented Rookies Mason Foster and Jack Burrows will be aiming to impress and certainly have the credentials to take some of the 75 points up for grabs at Circuito De Navarro.

The decision by MSVR to include R&G BTC in the BSB round one season opener was seemingly unpopular with some teams due to costs and logistical issues, you can be sure though that all the young riders will benefit from the international experience and Spanish hospitality awaiting. We wish them all a safe journey south.
