WorldSBK: Toprak Razgatlioglu sets a new lap record for pole position at Most
By Luke Newman
After dominating all three of the Practice sessions across the weekend Toprak Razgatlioglu continues his form as he takes pole at Most.
Toprak Razgatlioglu currently has seven World Superbike wins in a row and could extend his run to 10 wins this weekend. The Turkish rider has been dominant in recent rounds on the BMW and nothing has changed this weekend in the Czech Republic.
On his first flying lap Razgatlioglu went half a second quicker than the existing lap record. The 2021 WorldSBK Champion continued his qualifying form as he went even quicker to obliterate the lap record.
Andrea Iannone qualified in second place on his first ever visit to Most. The Italian rider got his fishing rod out and hooked onto the back of Razgatlioglu and held on for a fast lap time.
After a strong home round Alex Lowes has continued his form on to Most. The British rider qualified third place today on his Kawasaki. Behind Lowes is rookie Nicolo Bulega on the Ducati in fourth place.
Remy Gardner struggled at Donington Park but has qualified in fifth place in the Czech Republic, ahead of Danilo Petrucci who rounds out the second row in sixth.
Alvaro Bautista once again struggled in Qualifying as the Spaniards best lap time only put him in seventh place. The American Garrett Gerloff will start from eighth place, just behind the two-time WorldSBK Champion.
Rounding out the third row in ninth place is the Pata Yamaha rider of Andrea Locatelli, then Michael Ruben Rinaldi rounds out the top ten.
Other than Alex Lowes there are no other British riders in the top ten. However, Scott Redding and Sam Lowes will start in the top twelve as they qualified in 11th and 12th places. Jonathan Rea crashed at the start of the Superpole session but managed to qualify in 15th, with Bradley Ray in 21st.
