Britain’s Jake Dixon has turned his season around to be back in the hunt for the Moto2 championship title

For the Moto2 Gran Premio GoPro de Aragon, Britain’s Jake Dixon was on pole position for the first time this season. Lining up alongside Dixon was Diogo Moreira and Aron Canet.

Lights out as Jake Dixon lead the Moto2 field into turn one, Izan Guevara crashed out at turn three, more drama as Canet highsided at turn nine!

Jake was leading from Tony Arbolino and Moreira. Fermin Aldeguer was in fourth place, until he made a bold move passing two riders to get into second place. Arbolino was giving up on the second place position as he passed the SpeedUp rider to retake the second place spot.

Alonso Lopez was the fastest man on track after three laps, Deniz Oncu was in the mix in fifth place, a much better start to proceedings for the Turkish rookie.

Dixon and Arbolino had a 0.588 second lead from the rest of the Moto2 pack, as Arbolino passed Dixon to lead the race for the first time this season.

Previous Moto2 winner Celestino Vietti was in eighth place. Championship leader Sergio Garcia was down in 26th place. Ai Ogura looked to be struggling with pace down in 16th place.

Dixon retook first place on lap six, Joe Roberts caught the leading group in seventh place. Aldeguer had a huge highside at turn 14 as he tried to pass Oncu.

At the half way point of the race Dixon and Arbolino had over a second lead from Lopez, Vietti and Roberts had contact causing Vietti to run off circuit putting the Italian out of contention in 13th place.

Joe Roberts was handed a long lap penalty due to his contact with Vietti with five laps remaining to the race. The battle was on for third place between Lopez and Oncu, Dixon looked to be stretching his lead out from Arbolino.

Roberts crashed out of the race at turn 13 fighting with his teammate Marcos Ramirez on the final lap for seventh place.

Dixon crossed the line to take his second victory of the season, Arbolino was second with Oncu taking his first Moto2 podium finish in third place, Lopez was fourth, Manuel Gonzalez finished in fifth place.
