MotoGP: Enea Bastianini Wins Last Lap Battle Against Jorge Martin at the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix as Pecco Bagnaia Crashes Out

Enea Bastianini takes a home victory with a last lap move on Jorge Martin as Pecco Bagnaia loses a crucial 20 points
Francesco Bagnaia started from pole position looking to take the championship lead from the rider second on the grid Jorge Martin with Enea Bastianini rounding out the front row. Brad Binder who had a great start in the Tissot Sprint started in fourth with Pedro Acosta in fifth and Marco Bezzecchi, the only rider running a soft rear tyre in sixth and the winner of the San Marino Grand Prix Marc Marquez started in seventh.
The lights went out and Martin took the lead into turn one but Pecco Bagnaia cut underneath the Prima Pramac Racing Ducati and took the lead around the outside at turn two.
On lap two Binder crashed out of fourth place at turn four, Acosta moved into fourth with Marc Marquez behind in fifth.
On lap three Martin attacked into turn four but ran wide and Pecco retook the lead, Bastianini was with the pair of them.
On lap four into turn eight Martin passed Bagnaia and held on to the lead with Pecco having a moment on the exit. Bastianini then passed Bagnaia at turn ten on lap five.
On lap nine Acosta crashed out at turn 15 from fourth place. Bastianini was all over the back of Martin as the two were pulling away from Bagnaia who was 2.1 seconds behind.
On lap 15 Bagnaia set the fastest lap of the race with a 1:30.939 then the following lap into the 1:30.8s.
Pecco Bagnaia lost the front at turn eight! Martin was on course to take a 29 point lead into the fly away rounds.
Martin was defending at every overtaking opportunity to hold off The Beast and the Italian couldn’t find a way passed.
On the last lap at turn four Bastianini made a very aggressive move on Martin forcing the Spaniard off the track.
Enea Bastianini crossed the line to win the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix with Martin finishing five seconds behind and was not happy with the Italian;s overtake at turn four. Marc Marquez finished in third with Bezzecchi was fourth with Franky Morbidelli in fifth.
Martin leads the championship on 341 points 24 ahead of Bagnaia.
