Toprak steals the show once again, doing the double at Estoril
Toprak Razgatlioglu had the perfect start to proceedings yesterday, pole position and the race one victory. The front row for the Tissot Superpole race consisted of Toprak, Nicolo Bulega and Alvaro Bautista.
Bulega got the holeshot into turn one, Toprak got pushed back to third place. Jonathan Rea and Andrea Locatelli almost touched at the Chicane!
Toprak made his move to lead the race, Bulega returned the favour a few corners later. Rea passed Bautista for third place, the Yamaha rider was catching the leading duo.
Bautista retook the third place, but Rea wasn’t letting the Ducati out of his sight. A lap later Locatelli passed his team-mate to put Bautista under pressure for the final podium place finish.
With five laps to go, Bulega was the fastest man on track, the gap was 0.3 seconds between himself and Toprak. Disaster for Rea as he crashed out at turn seven, he was up and ok. Alex Lowes also crashed out on the final lap whilst fighting for fourth place.
Bulega just couldn’t catch the BMW of Toprak, another victory for Toprak, Bulega was second, Bautista hung on to third place, Locatelli was fourth with Andrea Iannone finishing in fifth place.
