MotoGP: Enea Bastianini Lights Up Silverstone with a Double Victory.
By Dawn Hammersley
Ducati Lenovo’s Enea Bastianini delivered a master class at the British Grand Prix.
A very sunny Silverstone gave the British MotoGP fans three glorious days of motorcycle action! Aleix Espargaro took the pole position on Saturday to head the front row of the grid, Pecco Bagnia lined up in second place, with team-mate Enea Bastianini qualifying in third place.
Sprint Race:
It was a dramatic start to the Sprint race as Pramac’s Frankie Morbidelli and VR46 Racing’s Marco Bezzecchi crashed out at turn one! More drama followed as Pedro Acosta and KTM’s Brad Binder clashed, both riders stayed on, just bits from their motorcycles were flung into the air.
Jorge Martin took control of the Sprint Race, followed by Bastianini, Espargaro and Pecco. More drama unfolded as Pecco crashed out on Lap five at turn four, Marc Marquez lost the front end at turn 16 both were out of the race.
The Beast and Martin diced with each other for the victory but it was the Italian who crossed the finish line to take his first Sprint podium and win.

Feature Race:
Pecco claimed the holeshot followed by team-mate Enea and Pramac’s Jorge Martin. The order stayed the same for some laps until Pecco began to lose pace handing the lead to Martin. The Beast once again proved to have more pace than his fellow Italian and passed Pecco to take second place.
Di Giannantonio and Alex Marquez were involved in a great battle for fifth place, Marc Marquez was in fourth place, the Gresini rider just couldn’t get close enough to Pecco to challenge for a podium finish.
Bastianini was closing in on Martin in the latter stags of the race, Jorge ran wide at turn three giving his Ducati rival an invitation to take the lead, Enea held on to first place and crossed the line to take his second victory of the weekend, Martin was second with Pecco taking the third place on the podium.

Pramac’s Jorge Martin leaves Silverstone leading the championship standings by just three points from Pecco Bagnaia.
