WSBK: Nicolo Bulega Takes the Race Two Honors at Donington Park
By Dawn Hammersley
Another dominant race victory for Bulega, bringing his victory total to twenty three for the 2026 season
For the final racing installment from Leicestershire’s Donington Park Nicolo Bulega was on pole position, Yari Montella was starting in second place, with home rider Sam Lowes rounding out the front row of the grid. Race One winner Iker Lecuona was starting from tenth place.
Lights out for the final time as Bulega lead the WorldSBK riders into Redgate. Alex Lowes passed his brother Sam for third place. Lecuona was making progress on the first lap getting into seventh place.
Sam Lowes was under pressure from fellow Brit Tommy Bridewell, Montella was running with Bulega in the opening laps.
Alex and Sam were battling for third place, Lecuona joined the party also hunting the podium position. Bulega was pulling away from Montella with 17 laps to go.
Lecuona got the better of the Lowes twins, next up was Montella who was just over two seconds away. Disaster for Bridewell as the British rider pulled over with a mechanical issue. Alvaro Bautista and Jonathan Rea were having a battle for tenth place; just like old times for the two riders.
With nine laps to go Lecuona was right with Montella, the Spaniard made the move at Goddards to take the second place position. Sam Lowes looked to be having a few issues as he was losing positions.
Bulega crossed the finish line after a dominate ride, team-mate Iker Lecuona was second, another podium finish for Montella, Axel Bassanni was fourth, Alex Lowes was fifth.
