OultonBSB: VisionTrack Ducati Riders Steal McAMS’ Thunder in Race Three at Oulton Park
By Dawn Hammersley
VisionTrack Ducati claimed a one-two after Josh Brookes took control in the third and final race of the weekend at Oulton Park with team-mate Christian Iddon in second.
Brookes took the holeshot and led for the whole of race three, defending from his team-mate Christian Iddon for most of the race, Iddon came close to overtaking Brookes on lap 16 but made a mistake at Hislop’s spoiling any chance of a race win for the 35-year-old Iddon.
Honda’s Andrew Irwin pulled over at the end of the first lap with an electrical problem, his brother and team-mate Glenn had an ongoing battle with Rapid fulfillments FS3 Kawaski’s Danny Buchan for fifth place, which Buchan came out on top. Buchan’s team-mate Lee Jackson was in a four-way train at the front for the whole of the race until Iddon’s mistake causing them to lose touch of Brookes, Jackson was able to snatch third place just before the line from O’Halloran on the last lap, putting 24-year-old Jackson in eighth place in the championship standings.
Oxford Products Racing Ducat’s Tommy Bridewell finished in 11th, this has been his most disappointing weekend of the championship. Buildbase Suzuki’s Kyle Ryde finished in 13th position, having a quiet weekend compared to his double race win at Silverstone, Kyle’s team-mate Gino Rea finished nine seconds ahead in 12th place.
Oulton Park has given us three great races in perfect weather conditions, what will Donnington Park have in store for us, with the top four riders being covered by 12 points, Honda’s Glenn Irwin remains championship leader, can he keep hold of it at Donnington Park?
