Pecco Bagnaia brings the gap down to ten points in the championship standings after securing his eighth win of the season.

Pedro Acosta was on pole position for the MotoGP feature race, Ducati’s Pecco Bagnaia and Aprilia’s Maverick Vinales joined Pedro on the front row of the grid.

Pecco and Acosta shot off the line to lead the race, Pecco got the advantage and was leading. Further back KTM’s Jack Miller had a thriller of a start after starting from 14th place on the grid, the Australian got up to fifth place on lap one!

Maverick went backwards from the front row start, running in ninth place. Alex Marquez and Honda’s Joan Mir collided on the first lap, both riders were out of the race!

Pramac’s Jorge Martin was up to second place by lap three as disaster truck once again for Pedro Acosta as he crashed out at the final corner on lap three.

Martin was closing in on Pecco by lap seven, would we get to see a head to head battle between the two championship rivals for the Motegi victory?

Enea Bastianini and KTM’s Brad Binder were battling it out for fourth place, the Beast just looked to have a bit more pace than the South African rider.

On lap ten the white rain flags were being shown due to spots of rain falling in parts of the circuit, the riders were now allowed to enter the pits to change bikes if they chose to.

The rain wasn’t a threat to the race as no riders entered the pits to make a change. Vinales crashed out at turn five on lap 12, a disappointing end to the race after starting on the front row of the grid. Marc Marquez was running a lonely race in third, Bastianini was in fourth place.

Martin was closing in on the leader Pecco with just five laps to go! Bagnaia received a dash board warning, the Italian responded and put a 1.4 second gap between himself and the Pramac rider.

Perfect Pecco crossed the line to take his eighth victory of the season, Martin was second, Marc was third, Enea finished in fourth place, Frankie Morbidelli was fifth, another solid ride from the Italian Pramac rider.

The championship standings close in once again as Martin leads Pecco by just ten points!
