BSB: Honda Racing’s Andrew Irwin Wins round 13, Glenn Irwin Crashes Out.

By Dawn Hammersley
Andrew Irwin is the first rider to claim three victories so far, Glenn has now lost the championship lead to VisionTrack Ducati’s Christian Iddon due to crash at a drying Donington Park.
Race one was declared a wet race with all but two riders choosing full wet tyres, Builbase Suzuki’s Kyle Ryde and RAF Regular And Reserve Kawasaki’s Jack Kennedy went with a rear intermediate tyre. They both started with a slow pace but as the track got dryer their pace got better, with both riders putting fast laps which resulted in a first pole position for Kennedy and a second place on the grid for Kyle in race two.
Championship leader Honda’s Glenn Irwin had a front end crash on lap one at Goddards giving the lead to his brother Andrew, who led for the whole of the race.
VisionTrack Ducati’s duo were hot on his heals throughout the race, both Josh Brookes and Christian Iddon were putting in consecutive fast laps early on in the race, Idonn finished in second place which means he is now leading the championship by two points from Brookes.
McAms Yamaha’s Jason O’Halloran went backwards throughout the race, his team mate Tarran Mackenzie had good pace, he had a good battle with RAF Regular And Reserves Kawasaki’s Ryan Vicars resulting in Tarren finishing infront of the Norfolk rider in fourth place.
Oxford Products Racing Ducat’s Tommy Bridewell struggles continued as he chose a hard rear tyre which caused wheel spin, he finished down in 15th place, leaving him a lot of work to do in championship title fight.
The two championship favourites Glenn Irwin and Jason O’Halloran are now tied in third place, just eight points off first place Ducati man Christian Iddon, who will take control of the championship by the end of round 14? race two coming up this afternoon at 14:15.
