Tommy Bridewell Takes The First Pole Position In The All-New Qualifying System.
The Q1 session got under-way with 16 riders battling to take the top six positions, enabling them to go through to Q2 for a higher grid position for Race one of the weekend at Oulton Park. The weather was a vast improvement from yesterday at the Cheshire circuit.
RICH Energy OMG Racing BMW’s Kyle Ryde topped the Q1 session, with RAF Regular And Reserve Kawasaki’s Ryan Vickers in second place, third place finisher CDH Racing Kawasaki’s Josh Owens crashed on his last lap, making things difficult for his team to get him back out on track for Q2. Fourth place went to PR Racing BMW’s Joe Francis, fifth place finisher was rookie Rory Skinner, sixth place man was BMW’s Andrew Irwin.
The first pole position for the 2021 Bennetts British Superbike season went to Oxford Products Racing Ducati’s Tommy Bridewell, with VisionTrack Ducati’s Christian Iddon in second place, team-mate Josh Brookes finished down in ninth place, third spot on the grid went to McAMS Yamaha’s Tarran Mackenzie, team-mate Jason O’Halloran finished in fourth place even though he had a mechanical problem early on and had to pull over. FHO Racing BMW’s Peter Hickman finished in fifth place just in front of fellow BMW man Kyle Ryde who was followed by his team-mate Brad Ray. Glenn Irwin had problems too and had to head back to the pits but managed to finish in eighth place, Suzuki’s Gino Rea rounded off the top ten.

Can any of the British Superbike riders put a stop to Tommy Bridewell’s form so far this weekend? Race One is this afternoon at 4.15pm.
