BSB: Lee Jackson Tops The Time Sheets In A Wet Free Practice One At Thruxton.
By Dawn Hammersley
FS-3 Racing Kawasaki’s Lee Jackson Was Fastest In The First Session Of The Day At Thruxton.
Round Four is already upon us, the Bennetts British Superbikes are at the Northampton fast flowing circuit of Thruxton, the Superbikes didn’t go to the circuit in the 2020 season due to late start of the championship. The weather for the first Free Practice of the day was under damp conditions.
The session was red flagged after just two minutes due to Storm Stacey having a mechanical issue, therefor the track needed to be inspected for any contamination. As the session was re-started it was Kyle Ryde who was leading the way, VisionTrack Ducati’s Josh Brookes was in third place.
Drops of rain were reported in all sections of the circuit, as Suzuki’s Danny Kent was in first place after completing three laps, Danny was knocked off the first position by BMW’s Danny Buchan, followed by Christian Iddon. Buchan’s team-mate Andrew Irwin also took a turn of owning first place until FS-3 Racing Kawasaki’s Lee Jackson took the top spot from the Northern Irish rider.
As the session hit the half-way mark it was still Lee Jackson who was at the top of the time sheets, followed by Iddon and Jason O’Halloran. With the circuit being hampered by rain most of the riders were back in the pits. With five minutes left on the clock most of the Superbike riders returned to the track to put a final lap time in before the chequered flag.
At the end of the session it was Lee Jackson who topped the session, followed by Christian Iddon, Jason O’Halloran, Kyle Ryde and Oxford Product’s Tommy Bridewell who finished in fifth place. FHO Racing BMW’s Peter HIckman rounded off the top ten in tenth place.

Free Practice Two is this afternoon at 3.45pm.
