Toprak Razgatlioglu Wins his Second Race of Round Nine, his Tenth Victory of the 2022 Season.
For the round nine Superpole race Jonathan Rea was on pole position; along-side Jonathan on the front row of the grid was Toprak Razgatlioglu and Britain’s Alex Lowes. The main tyre choice for the Superpole race was the SC0, but Rea has chosen the harder version of the tyre.
Toprak was first into turn one, Alvaro was up to third place. On lap two Alvaro blasted past Toprak and Rea on the start finish straight for the lead; Toprak retook the lead at turn five. The whole field was bunched up due to the battling at the front.
Michael Ruben Rinaldi was on the move in fifth place, Rea set the fastest lap of the race after three laps of the race. Toprak had 0.3s gap at the front, Rea was putting Bautista under pressure for second place. Alex Lowes was fourth with Rinaldi on his tail.
Toprak was riding defensive; he wasn’t giving up on his first place, sliding into every turn late on the breaks. Garrett Gerloff crashed out on lap seven at turn three, the American was in ninth place.
With three to go Bautista had a massive front-end moment, the Spaniard saved it and held on to second place. There was fight for eighth position from Van Der Mark to Honda’s Lecuona who was in 12th place.
Toprak crossed the finish line to take his second victory of the weekend; a valuable 12 points in the bag for the Turkish rider. Bautista finished a close second with Rea finishing in third place. Lowes held on to fourth place in front of Rinaldi.

The gap between Alvaro and Toprak is now 51 points, can Toprak do the treble at Portimao this afternoon and reduce the points gap even more?
