Moto3: Deniz Oncu Wins at the Red Bull Ring.

Deniz Oncu wins the Austrian Grand Prix after a last lap battle with Daniel Holgado, Ayumu Sasaki and Colin Veijer.
Colin Veijer took his first pole position of the 2023 season at the Austrian Grand Prix, along-side the Intact GP rider was Daniel Holgado and Red Bull KTM Ajo’s Deniz Oncu. It was perfect weather conditions for the Moto3 race.
Daniel Holgado lead the field into turn one, the Spaniard was looking sharp. Pole Man Veijer was in third place, just behind Deniz Oncu.
Veijer took second place a lap later, the Dutch rider was looking confident as he was eyeing up a chance to take the lead from Holgado. The leading group consisted of seven riders; from Holgado to Riccardo Rossi.
Ayumu Sasaki was the fastest rider on circuit with 17 laps to go, the Intact GP rider was in sixth place. Jaume Masia had a technical issue at turns seven and eight and had to pull in, this enabled the leading trio to make a slight break from David Alonso in fourth place.
With thirteen laps remaining to the race Alonso was catching the leading riders and he was bringing Sasaki with him. Holgado was leading from Veijer and Oncu, a lap later Veijer took control of proceedings and made his move on Holgado to lead the Moto3 race.
The leading group now was a quintet of riders as Alonso and Sasaki were in the hunt for the win. Ten laps to go and the lead changed hands, Holgado was leading with Oncu hot on his heels! David Alonso came from third to first, the Columbian lead at turn one but unfortunately he crashed out at turn two.
Sasaki hit the front with six laps to go, Holgado squeezed past Sasaki at turn three to lead the race again, Oncu was in third, Veijer was in fourth place. Ivan Ortola was catching the leading group in fifth place, his pace was faster than the leading quartet.
Last lap time and it was Sasaki who was leading from Holgado, it was a four-way scrap for the win! It was a drag to line between Oncu, Holgado and Sasaki, Deniz Oncu crossed the finish line to take his second victory of the season, Holgado was second with Sasaki finishing in third place, Veijer just missed out on a podium finish in fourth place.
