BSB: Glenn Irwin Wins the BikeSocial Sprint Race at Cadwell Park.

By Dawn Hammersley
Glenn Irwin takes the first victory of the weekend in what was the Ducati rider’s 200th British Superbike race.
It’s round eight of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship at the scenic Lincolnshire circuit of Cadwell Park. FS-3 Racing’s Max Cook and SYNETIQ BMW’s Danny Buchan have both been side-lined for this round; Max had a couple of crashes during Friday evenings Official Test Session, Danny crashed during Free Practice One yesterday.
LAMI OMG Racing’s Ryan Vickers was on pole position for the first time this season, ROKIT BMW’s Leon Haslam qualified in second place with BeerMonster Ducati’s Glenn Irwin rounding out the front row in third place.
Ryan Vickers got the holeshot into turn one, Tommy Bridewell made a sharp start getting into sixth place, his team-mate Glenn Irwin took the lead from Vickers at Park. Storm Stacey was up to seventh place; battling with Bridewell for the position.
After two laps the top four made a slight break away from the rest of the field from Irwin to Kyle Ryde. Leon Haslam pulled off the circuit while running in third place with an issue on lap three. Rain came into to play at parts of the Lincolnshire circuit.
The leading trio consisted of Irwin, Vickers and Ryde, Jason O’Halloran was in fourth place, championship leader Bridewell was in sixth place.
Vickers was looking to make a move to lead the race, the OMG rider just couldn’t find the place on the circuit to make his move. Charlie Nesbitt crashed out the Hairpin on lap seven. Jack Kennedy was just outside the top ten, the Mar-Train rider was feeling very second hand after his crash at Thruxton. Disaster for Storm Stacey as the Staffordshire rider crashed out at Mansfield!
Vickers made his move at Charlies Two, Glenn wasn’t having it and retook the lead down the Park straight, Ryde took second place from his team-mate on the final lap, O’Halloran caught the leading trio with just a few corners remaining to the race.
Glenn just held on to cross the finish line in first place, Ryde was second, Vickers was third, O’Halloran finished in fourth place, Bridewell was fifth.
