
MotoGP: Jorge Martin Takes Fifth Sprint Victory in a Row in Thailand

Jorge Martin closes down the championship leader, taking his seventh sprint win of the season with Pecco in seventh
For the sprint in Thailand Jorge Martin was on pole position, Mooney VR46 Racing’s Luca Marini lined-up in second place with Aprilia Racing’s Aleix Espargaro taking third place on the front row of the grid and championship leader Francesco Bagnaia was in sixth.
The lights went out and it was Martin who took the holeshot into turn one ahead of Marini, Pecco Bagnaia dropped down to eighth and Johann Zarco sat Pecco up at turn seven.
On lap two Brad Binder turned underneath Espargaro into turn three and then Marc Marquez passed Espargaro into turn five.
Marco Bezzecchi had a very aggressive pass into turn four to move into sixth; meanwhile Martin had pulled out 0.7 seconds ahead of Marini and Pecco was still in ninth.
Alex Marquez and Zarco were battling hard on lap four and both ran wide at the final corner and that allowed Pecco to move into seventh place.
Binder was struggling to get passed Marini, the South African attempted a move at turn eight but ran wide and the Italian retook the position.
On lap seven into the final corner managed to pull alongside the Mooney VR46 Ducati and block pass the Italian for second place.
Marquez passed Bezzecchi into the final corner on lap ten to move inside the top five, but was given a track limits warning.
On the last lap Marquez passed Esparagro at turn three with Espargaro retaking the place at turn seven.
Martin took his fifth sprint win in a row with Binder in second and Marini in third. Marc Marquez took fourth at the final corner from Espargaro who finished fifth, Bezzecchi held off Pecco for sixth. Alex Marquez finished eighth with Zarco taking the final points paying position in ninth.
