BSB: Glenn Irwin Takes the Sprint Race Victory at Oulton Park.

By Dawn Hammersley
Glenn Irwin wins his second race of the weekend and held off his former team-mate Tommy Bridewell.
Yesterday’s race one winner PBM’s Glenn Irwin was on pole position for race two at Oulton Park. Oxford Products Racing Ducati’s Christian Iddon lined-up in second place, with McAMS Racing’s Danny Kent rounding out the front row of the grid.
Lights out as Glenn Irwin lead the field of Superbike riders into Old Hall Bend, Tommy Bridewell got a sharp start as did Leon Haslam and Josh Brookes. Kyle Ryde was moving up the order, his team-mate Ryan Vickers was behind just inside the top ten.
After two laps Tommy was coming under pressure from Danny Kent. Iddon was sitting behind fellow Ducati man Irwin. Iddon was having a strong weekend and looked settled aboard his Oxford Products Ducati machinery.
Fraser Rogers ran off at Shell Oils, the TAG Racing rider just missed a rider that was in front of him, causing the run off track. The leading group consisted of 10 riders from Irwin to Max Cook.
The fight for fifth place was getting messy between Ryde, Brookes, Haslam and Jason O’Halloran. By lap seven the front four riders had made a break from the rest of the field, Bridewell was in third place, he trying to find a way passed Iddon, Tommy made the move at Cascades and made it stick, the Honda man was now in second place behind his 2023 season main rival.
Kyle Ryde was the fastest man on track and broke away from his group of riders, the Jacksdale Notts rider was in fifth place and catching the leading quartet with just two laps remaining to the race.
Glenn Irwin crossed the line to take his second victory of the weekend, Bridewell finished in second place, Iddon held off Kent to take the third place.
