Christian Iddon wins a sketchy race three at Knockhill as Tommy Bridewell leads the championship
For the final superbike racing installment for round four of the championship, Danny Kent was on pole position alongside the McAMS rider on the front row was Christian Iddon and Rory Skinner. The conditions were yet again damp and wet.
Danny Kent got the holeshot into turn one, Storm Stacey ran off track at turn three. Skinner took the lead at the end of lap one, Iddon was second with Tommy Bridewell in third place. Iddon slipped underneath Skinner at the Hairpin to take the lead.
Billy McConnell was in fourth place and very much with the leading trio. Glenn Irwin was down in 13th place.
Bridewell was now in second place after five laps, the fastest man on track was McConnell, who was now in third place with Rory for company.
Jason O’Halloran crashed out at the Hairpin on lap seven, not a great weekend for the O’Show! Tom Neave pulled in with a technical issue.
The leading five riders made a break from the rest of the field, from Iddon to Yamaha’s Kent. Iddon and Bridewell had edged away from the five riders at the half-way stage of the race. Billy had a moment at the Hairpin which enabled Leon Haslam to take fifth place.
Kent was in third place and catching the leading duo with eight laps remaining to the race. Haslam crashed out of fifth place which brought out the red flag. The race was declared a result with Iddon taking his first victory of the 2024 season. Bridewell was second with Kent in third place.
Tommy Bridewell leads the championship from Glenn Irwin, with a difference of 11 points.
