MT Helmets Ai Ogura takes his second Moto2 victory of the season.
For the Dutch Moto2 Grand Prix, Fermin Aldeguer was on pole position, with Ai Ogura and Sergio Garcia for company on the front row of the grid.
Ogura lead the field into turn one, Tony Arbolino had a lightening start and was in fourth place. A few corners later and Fermi took control at the front to lead the race.
There was no stopping the Elf Marc VDS rider Arbolino, he was in second place after two laps of the race. Alonso Lopez was making late moves to get into third place. Britain’s Jake Dixon was progressing through the field and was in seventh place.
Garcia was getting in the mix in the leading group, Aldeguer was stretching out his lead at the front after four laps of the race.
Aldeguer was handed a track limits warning after just five laps! Home rider Zonta Van Den Goorbergh crashed out on lap five as Aron Canet crashed out on lap six, as did Albert Arenas.
MT Helmet team-mates Ogura and Garcia were battling out for second place as Aldeguer was stretching out his lead at the front by over a second.
Ayumu Sasaki was punted off track and crashed out, another none finish for the Moto2 rookie.
Ai passed his team-mate for second place, Ogura was actually faster than Fermin at this point of the race, could the Japanese rider catch the SpeedUp rider with 10 laps remaining to the race?
Dixon was battling for fourth place with Arbolino and Lopez. Disaster for Aldeguer as he was handed a long lap penalty on lap 14! The Spanish rider rejoined the race in third place behind Garcia. Ogura was now the Moto2 race leader with seven laps to go.
Aldeguer caught the the leading MT Helmet duo, the team-mates were dicing for the lead which enabled the SpeedUp rider to join in for the fight to lead the race. With three laps to go Aldeguer got between the two MT Hemet riders and was hunting Ogura for the victory.
Ogura crossed the line to hold off Fermin to take his second victory of the season, Garcia was third, Dixon was fourth with Somkiat Chantra finishing in fifth place.
