BSB: Hardie Storms to Third Successive Supersport Cup Win at Thruxton.

By Dawn Hammersley
Mikey Hardie continued his winning run as he powered to his third win in as many races at Thruxton.
After topping the Friday timesheets as the Quattro Group British Supersport & GP2/HEL Cup arrived at the fastest track in the UK, Hardie was back on top this morning as he qualified first in the Cup class and P17 overall ahead of this afternoon’s Sprint race.
Meanwhile, ROKiT Rookie team-mate Joe Farragher built on his strong Friday to qualify third in the Cup and 31st overall as Adam Brown lined up 40th on the grid.
At the green light, Hardie got a quick start and was up to 13th position by the end of the second lap as he left his Cup rivals behind.
A red flag halted proceedings on Lap Seven and race chiefs ruled the race would be restarted over five laps.
Hardie found himself running 14th overall for most of the five laps, but remained in total control of the Cup, eventually crossing the line 14th overall and taking his third Cup win on the bounce – eight seconds clear of his nearest Cup rival.
Behind, Farragher was also looking good, crossing the line third in the Cup and just around half a second off the rider in second place.
Brown, who isn’t running in the Cup class this weekend, also enjoyed a hard fight, pushing his way through the pack to take 34th at the flag.
Hardie, Farragher and Brown will be back out in action for Sunday’s Feature Race, with Hardie lining up 13th on the grid where he’ll be hoping to push towards the overall top 10.
