BSB: Farragher Scores a P2 for Rokit Rookies at Thruxton.

By Dawn Hammersley
Joe Farragher crossed the line second in class in the Quattro Group British Supersport & GP2/HEL Cup Feature Race at Thruxton.
On the final day at the fastest track in the UK, Farragher proved to be the highest finisher of the ROKiT Rookie entrants after Mikey Hardie was forced to retire two laps from the finish line.
As the temperatures soared at the Hampshire track, the Supersport pack headed out for their main race of the weekend at 3.25pm, all set for what would be a tough 18 laps.
Following his Cup win on Saturday, Mikey Hardie got another flying start from 13th on the grid as leading Cup rider, quickly moving up to P11 before pushing his way into the overall top 10.
Hardie spent the race battling to keep in the top 10 and had been looking strong in 11th and leading the Cup when, two laps from home, he encountered a technical issue which forced him to retire.
With Hardie out of the race, this left Farragher and team-mate Adam Brown to fly the ROKiT Rookies flag.
Farragher, who had picked up a third in class in Saturday’s race, had been riding quite a lonely race with several seconds between him and the rider behind, but he kept pushing on.
At the flag, he crossed the line 25th overall but second in the Cup class to pick up 22 valuable points.
Brown, meanwhile, was not running as a Cup entry this weekend but enjoyed a strong race, finishing 29th.
Although Hardie was a non-finisher, the points picked up for his win on Saturday have helped power him up the points order to third in the Cup, as Farragher’s third on Saturday coupled with his second on Sunday have moved him up to fourth.
The Supersport ROKiT Rookies will return to action in a fortnight at Cadwell Park in Lincolnshire.
