
MotoGP: Marc Marquez Wins Rain Affected San Marini Grand Prix with Jorge Martin in 15th

Marc Marquez takes victory at Misano ahead of Pecco Bagnaia with Jorge Martin down in 15th after pitting
Rain was in the air on the grid with raindrops visible on the windshields of the bikes. Francesco Bagnaia started from pole position and needed to beat Jorge Martin to close in the Spaniards championship leads. Franco Morbidelli started in second with Marco Bezzecchi in third. Martin was fourth with Marc Marquez in ninth. Repsol Honda’s Joan Mir and Luca Marini did not take part due to illness.
The lights went out and it was Pecco Bagnaia who took the holeshot ahead of Morbidelli and Martin, Martin passed Morbidelli at turn four.
On lap two at turn two Martin looked up the inside of Bagnaia but there was no room and the Prima Pramac Racing Ducati rider sat up. Pedro Acosta tried to pass Morbidelli at turn four but couldn’t get far enough on the inside and broke his front left winglet.
On lap three Acosta was able to pass Morbidelli into turn eight but the Italian immediately responded at turn ten.
On lap four Acosta ran wide at turn 13 and then lost the front at turn 14, but he rejoined in the race in 22nd.
On lap seven Morbidelli lost the front at turn one after being the fastest on track. The rain started to get heavier and Martin was on the back of Pecco, but the Spaniard ran off track at Curvone.
Martin pulled into pits on lap seven onto wet tyres, he rejoined in 15th place. Brad Binder was in second with Marc Marquez in third. Marquez passed Binder at turn 14 and then Pecco out of turn 15.
Jack Miller was running in third place, the Australian isn’t scared of mental rain and he had nothing to lose.
Martin was back in pitlane on lap nine and the Spaniard switched back to slicks and rejoined in 16th place.
Enea Bastianini overtook Miller at turn eight to move into third place. Alex Marquez was fifth ahead of Binder, Bezzecchi and Fabio Quartararo.
On lap 15 Alex Marquez did the same move on Miller at turn eight as Bastianini to move into third.
Marc Marquez was pulling away from Bagnaia, leading by 1.3 seconds with Bastianini four seconds behind his team-mate Pecco.
Bezzecchi passed Alex Marquez at turn 14 with the Gresini Racing Ducati rider trying to cut back on the Italian but there was no room.
Marc Marquez took back-to-back victories ahead Pecco Bagnaia and Enea Bastianini. Binder finished fourth ahead of Bezzecchi in fifth.
Martin leads the championship on 312 points with Bagnaia seven points behind and Marc Marquez 53 points back.
