
Moto3: Angel Piqueras Wins the Gran Premio YPF Energía de Argentina 2025

MT Helmet’s Angel Piqueras takes his first victory of 2025, after a hectic last lap battle
For round two of the 2025 Moto3 championship it was back-to-back pole positions for Matteo Bertelle, MT Helmet’s Angel Piqueras lined-up in second place was with his team-mate Ryusei Yamanaka rounding out the front row of the grid for the Argentinian Grand Prix.
Liqui Moly Dynavolt Intact GP’s David Munoz started the race from pit lane due to receiving a penalty from the previous round in Thailand for dangerous riding.
Lights out as Yamanaka lead the Moto3 field into turn one, all riders were safely through the first few corners. Scott Ogden lost a few positions at the start of the race.
At the end of the first lap David Almansa was leading the way until the Leopard Racing rider was passed by Alvaro Carpe and Jose Antonio Rueda. Joel Kelso took his first long lap penalty, he was now running in 19th place.
The top 11 riders were making a break from the rest of the field. Kelso took his second long lap penalty on lap three. Riccardo Rossi was putting pressure on the leading trio, as Angel Piqueras took the lead.
After five laps the field was pretty much bunched up, Munoz was still at the back of the field. Almansa took charge of proceedings once again, Ogden was up to 11th place. Rookie Valentin Perrone was in seventh place.
Guido Pini crashed out on lap eight at turn eight. Adrian Fernandez joined his team-mate at the front in second place. The battle for third place was getting fierce! Kelso put the hammer down and was running in 14th place.
At the half way point of the race, Taiyo Furusato was leading from Fernandez and Carpe. The front group still consisted of a long pack of riders. Pole man Bertelle took control after 12 laps to lead the race as Marcos Uriarte crashed out at turn 11.
Things were heating up at the front with just five laps to go! A front group of eight riders hunting for the win as the Italian Bertelle was still holding on to the lead by a whisker.
Last lap time as Bertelle was in the lead, the LEVELUP rider looked comfortable leading the race, Carpe crashed out at turn one! Piqueras took the lead but touched the green paint at turn 11, the MT Helmet’s rider crossed the line to take the victory, Fernandez was second, Rueda was third, Bertelle could only manage a fourth place finish, Furusato finished in fifth place.
