Rueda delivers a master class victory once again with a lights to flag win
It’s round 12 of the Moto3 championship at the Automotodrom of Brno, Liqui Moly Dynavolt Intact GP’s Guido Pini was on pole position, it was a maiden pole position for the young Italian rider. Jose Antonio Rueda lined up in second place, David Munoz qualified in third place but was handed a penalty for dangerous riding and was demoted to the back of the grid. David Almansa was promoted to third place on the grid for the Moto3 race.
Lights out as Rueda lead the Moto3 field into turn one, all riders through the first few corners safely! Max Quiles was up to second place, Pini was in third. Munoz was up to 13th place already!
After two laps the Moto3 riders were still pretty much bunched up. Munoz was now in tenth place, just a second behind the leader Rueda.
CFMOTO Aspar’s Dennis Foggia was having a solid ride running in third place. The first four laps were steady no harsh moves or crazy over takes from the riders as Rueda was setting the pace at the front.
On lap five Munoz was the fastest rider on track in eighth place. Quiles and Foggia were dicing for second pace. Riccardo Rossi was the first rider to crash out of the race at turn seven.
At the half way stage of the race Rueda was still leading the race with a 0.3 second gap to Foggia in second place.
Rueda was riding the perfect race as the riders behind were scrapping for positions, Munoz was in fourth place. Foggia was just about holding off his teammate Quiles for second place. With six laps to go Rueda had over a second lead at the front. Track Limits warnings were coming into play for a few of the riders.
There was a six-way battle for second and third place from Quiles to Almansa, Rueda was over two seconds ahead of Quiles, definitely a statement ride from the young Spanish rider.
The battle was on for podium finishes, Rueda crossed the line to take the victory, Quiles was second, Munoz was third, Angel Piqueras was fourth, Foggia missing out on a podium finish in fifth.
