
MotoGP: Marco Bezzecchi Takes First Tissot Sprint Victory Since Assen 2023

Marco Bezzcchi is victorious at Misano in the Tissot Sprint as Marc Marquez crashes out
Marco Bezzecchi started at his home circuit of Misano from pole position ahead of Alex Marquez in second and Fabio Quartararo in third. Champion elect Marc Marquez started in fourth ahead of Franco Morbidelli who was having a strong weekend with Luca Marini rounding out the second row. Fabio Di Giannantonio headed the third row ahead of Francesco Bagnaia and Pedro Acosta. Three tenths separated the first three rows of the grid.
The lights went out and Bezzecchi lead out of the opening sequence of corners ahead of Marc Marquez and Alex Marquez. Quartararo was fourth of the VR46 Ducati’s in Di Giannantonio and Morbidelli.
Bezzecchi was pushing hard setting the fastest lap of the race in the 1:30.9 brackett. Pecco Bagnaia was struggling down in 13th position.
On lap 5 Quartararo lost the front into turn two and was out of the race. Marc Marquez started to close in on Bezzecchi as the Italian began to struggle with the front end.
On lap 6 Marquez made the move on Bezzecchi into turn six and made it stick. He was pulling away but he lost the front at turn 15 and was out of the race! His first DNF in a sprint this season.
On lap ten Brad Binder retired with an issue with his Red Bull KTM.
With three laps remaining Bezzecchi had a 0.9 second lead ahead of Alex Marquez, the two Pertamina Enduro VR46 Ducati’s were locked together for third place.
Marco Bezzecchi crossed the line to take his first Tissot Sprint victory since Assen 2023, Alex Marquez was second with Di Giannantonio holding off Morbidelli for the final podium spot. Acosta edged out Fermin Aldeguer for fifth with Marini in seventh, Jorge Martin in eighth and Raul Fernandes took the last points paying position. Pecco Bagnaia finished in 13th.
