
MotoGP: Marc Marquez Holds Off Marco Bezzecchi to Win The San Marino Grand Prix

Marc Marquez takes victory at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli ahead of Marco Bezzecchi
Home rider and Tissot Sprint winner Marco Bezzecchi started from pole position for his home Grand Prix in Misano, Alex Marquez was second with Fabio Quartararo in third. Marc Marquez crashed out of the Sprint and would be determined to go back to winning ways. Francesco Bagnaia had another difficult sprint and started the San Marino Grand Prix from eighth place. Jorge Martin had to change bikes after suffering a problem on the sighting lap, he would have to take a double long lap penalty.
The lights went out and Bezzecchi lead the pack out of the first sector. Johann Zarco and Joan Mir crashed out at turn four.
Bezzecchi lead Marc and Alex Marquez ahead of Quartararo and the Pertamina Enduro VR46 Ducati’s of Franco Morbidelli and Fabio Di Giannantonio.
Pedro Acosta overtook Di Giannantonio into turn eight to move into sixth place, Pecco Bagnaia held his starting position of eighth.
On lap four Acosta pulled the same move on Morbidelli to move into fifth place and was right behind Quartararo.
Acosta then went through on Quartararo at turn eight on lap six for fourth place.
On lap eight Pedro Acosta retired from the race due to his chain coming off. Then on lap nine Pecco Bagnaia lost the front at turn nine and was out of the race.
On lap 12 Bezzecchi out-braked himself into turn eight and Marc Marquez took the lead.
Both VR46 Ducati’s were able to overtake Quartararo into turn eight to move into fourth and fifth place.
In the closing laps Marc Marquez and Bezzecchi were setting the fastets laps of the race with the gap yoyoing from three to six tenths.
Marc Marquez held off Bezzecchi to win the San Marino Grand Prix, Alex Marquez was third ahead of Morbidelli and Di Giannantonio.

Marc has a 182 point lead over Alex Marquez with 222 points avaliable.
