WSBK: Nicolo Bulega Holds Off Toprak Razgatlioglu to do the Sunday Double
By Dawn Hammersley
Bulega held off the pressure from Toprak once again to bridge the gap in the championship standings
For final racing installment from Aragon, Nicolo Bulega was on pole position, Toprak Razgatlioglu lined up in second place, with Ducati’s Alvaro Bautista rounding out the front row of the grid.
Bulega got the perfect start, leading the way into turn one. Bautista got a little beat up in the first few corners, Andrea Iannone, Jonathan Rea and Alex Lowes all passed the Spaniard.
Once again the leading duo of Bulega and Toprak made a break for it, Iannone was leading the battle for third place.
A few laps later Bautista got the better of Iannone and Rea to run in third place, at the front Toprak and Bulega were trading paint work at virtually every corner!
With 12 laps to go Bulega was controlling the race, until Toprak worked his magic and took first place, it was short lived as the Ducati passed Toprak to once again lead the way. At this point of the season both riders had 28 wins between them, who would win the 29th?
Seven laps to go and Bautista was catching the leaders, the gap was just 1.9s behind. Toprak lost a bit of time to Bulega after a mistake at turn seven, the gap was just over a second. Lower down the field there was a three-way scrap for fourth place between Rea, Iannone and Sam Lowes.
Two laps to go as Bulega was over two seconds ahead of Toprak, as Sam Lowes crashed out of sixth place, Michael Van Der Mark also crashed out on the penultimate lap.
Bulega won the battle once again and crossed the line to take his second victory of the day, Toprak was second, Bautista was third, Iannone was fourth, Rea finished in fifth place.

Toprak is leading the championship standings with just 36 points between the Turkish rider and Bulega.
