CFMoto Aspar Team dominated the race after a restart due to a red flag
The Autodromo Internacional Ayrton Senna was the host for round two of the 2026 Moto3 Championship. It’s the first time in 22 years that Brazil is on the MotoGP calendar. The Brazilian circuit has delivered quite a bit of drama with the weather and track conditions! Track action was delayed yesterday due to a sink hole appearing right on the start finish straight.
Qualifying did manage to get underway for the Moto3 class, Joel Esteban was on pole position, Valentin Perrone qualified in second place, with MT Helmet’s rookie Hakim Danish rounding out the front row of the grid.
Joel Esteban got the hole shot into turn one, everyone was through the first few corners cleanly. Marco Morelli made a sharp start running in second place.
After two laps the Moto3 riders were still bunched up in one group, Morelli was leading from Danish. Scott Ogden didn’t get the start the Brit wanted, he was down in 20th place, Casey O’Gorman was in 12th place.
Max Quiles joined the party getting into second place, Perrone was leading briefly until David Almansa took control of the race.
After six laps the front group consisted of 15 riders, from Almansa to rookie Zen Mitani. Poleman Joel Esteban had a massive highside at turn four on lap seven.
The leading duo of Almansa and Quiles had a 1.5s lead from the rest of the field after 10 laps.
Almansa had a highside at turn four on lap 13, handing the lead to Quiles, the CFMoto Aspar rider had a 3.6s lead at the front. Disaster for Ogden as he also crashed out at turn four.
The race was Red Flagged, 2/3 of the race was not completed so the race would be restarted over five laps.
Lights out for the second time, Quiles lead the field into turn one. Two riders crashed out on the opening lap, Jesus Rios and Matteo Bertelle.
Morelli was in second place chasing his team-mate Quiles. The fight for third place was getting feisty! Last lap time it was an Aspar one-two Quiles and Morelli, Veda Pratama was third, Carpe was fourth, Guido Pini was fifth.
