By Dawn Hammersley
Bulega’s domination continues as he takes his twentieth victory in a row
It’s round six of the WorldSBK Championship from a very hot Aragon. Nicolo Bulega was on pole position for the consecutive sixth time. Joining Bulega was Iker Lecuona and Sam Lowes. Alberto Surra did qualify in third place but the Italian rider was given a yellow flag infringement, so was starting from the back of the grid.
Lights out at the Spanish circuit as Bulega got the holeshot into turn one, from Lecuona. Sam Lowes got a poor start, Tommy Bridewell got into fifth place.
The Lowes brothers were battling for third place. Bridewell was looking confident in fifth place, just ahead of Lorenzo Baldassarri. Lecuona was closing in on his team-mate Bulega.
Sam got the better of Alex to take the third place position. Alvaro Bautista was out of the race after just three laps, the Barni Sparks rider pulled into the pits due to a technical issue with the brakes.
Further down the field the battle was heating up for a top ten position. Andrea Locatelli crashed out at turn 15, the Italian was up and ok.
Stand in rider Michael Van Der Mark was running in tenth place, whilst dicing with Tarren Mackenzie for the position. Bulega was stretching out his lead at the front of the field, Sam had a comfortable space between himself and Alex in third place.
Kawasaki’s Garrett Gerloff was piling on the pressure to Bimota’s Axel Bassani for eighth place. Somkiat Chantra was making progress from his original starting position running in 15th place.
Bulega continued his WSBK domination as he crossed the line to take his first victory of the weekend, Lecuona was second with Sam Lowes taking the final podium spot, Alex Lowes finished in fourth place, Bridewell finished in fifth place.
