Uriarte takes the win after a very exciting last few laps
For the Brembo Grand Prix of Italy David Almansa was on pole position for the Moto3 class, but unfortunately David was declared unfit to compete in the race due to suffering from tonsillitis. With Almansa out that promoted Hakim Danish to pole position, GRYD – MLav Racing’s Joel Kelso lined up in second place, with Brian Uriarte rounding out the front row of the grid. The weather conditions at the Mugello circuit were perfect.
Lights out as Danish lead the Moto3 field into turn one, everyone were safely through the first few corners. Scott Ogden got a good start as did MLav Racing’s Kelso.
Championship leader Max Quiles was running in 15th place, as Kelso was controlling the race at the front, with Joel Esteban in second place.
Casey O’Gorman retired with a technical issue on lap three. MLav Racing’s Eddie O’Shea was the fastest rider on track.
After four laps Uriarte was leading from Danish, Kelso had been pushed down the order to fourth place. On lap five Adrian Fernandez joined the party and took the lead of the race, until Alvaro Carpe took the lead.
Quiles was running in third place, all the Moto3 riders were bunched up with the nature of the Mugello circuit. Disaster for Rico Salmela as he crashed out on lap seven. Ogden had to take avoiding action from Salmela’s crash which caused the Brit to lose a few positions.
O’Shea was well in the mix after ten laps, the young Brit was running in sixth place, just behind his team-mate Kelso. O’Shea then went on to lead the race briefly, before being passed by Fernandez.
With two laps to go, you really couldn’t call who was going to take the victory! The leading group consisted of 15 riders. Quiles was getting beat up, running in 11th place.
Uriarte crossed the line to take the victory, Carpe was second, Danish was third, Fernandez was fourth, Esteban was fifth, O’Shea was sixth.

Quiles leads the Moto3 championship standings on 145 points.
