A positive round five of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship for Mar-Train Racing and Jack Kennedy.
Mar-Train Yamaha Racing’s Jack Kennedy reflected on another positive weekend in the Bennetts British Superbike Championship after claiming two top 10 finishes at Snetterton.
Kennedy finished eighth in Saturday’s sprint race before securing 10th and 12th-place finishes in Sunday’s double-header at the Norfolk circuit.
It saw the Lisburn-based Mar-Train Yamaha Racing team claim another 18 championship points to cement Jack Kennedy’s 10th place position in the overall Bennetts British Superbike Championship standings.
Jack Kennedy
All in all, it was a positive weekend. Two top 10 finishes were pleasing, finishing eighth and 10th before a 12th in Sunday’s second race,
The overall feeling is definitely positive coming away from Snetterton.
We struggled a little bit early on Friday but made some good progress and qualified in ninth which put us on the third row.
Saturday’s eighth place finish was good, and we backed it up with Sunday’s 10th and 12th. Obviously, the trajectory of the results wasn’t what I wanted but the pace really ramped up on Sunday.
Everyone upped the pace in race three and I just didn’t get away with that leading front group. I then got stuck in a battle with (Tito) Rabat and couldn’t make up the ground with the people in front.
We wanted another top 10 finish in race three, but we can’t have it our own way in every race. We must take the positives from the weekend which was a lot of points gained and more progress made.
We got more crucial information on the Yamaha R1 and I’m feeling more comfortable on the bike with every race. So, I am looking forward to Brands Hatch next, a circuit I really like.
I have also ridden the Superbike there before, so we won’t be going in blind like many of the other tracks.
So overall we will take the positives from the weekend. More points in the bank and big thanks to the whole Mar-Train Yamaha Racing team for all their hard work.
Tim Martin – Team Owner
It was a pretty good weekend and we made progress across the three races. There were a few issues with the bike set-up, but we came good with it as the weekend progressed.
The team worked great as always, and the bike never missed a beat all weekend. It was a real confidence booster for Jack and the team, and we can new look forward to Brands Hatch next.
The bike should be competitive there and we will continue chipping away and attempting to get into that top 10 and potentially higher as the season unfolds.
