BSB: Kyle Ryde Wins a Frantic Race One at Thruxton.

Kyle Ryde won one of the most exciting races so far this season, the OMG rider goes into second place in the championship standings.
It’s round seven of the Bennetts British Superbikes at the Hampshire circuit of Thruxton. OMG Yamaha’s Kyle Ryde took the pole position, Kyle’s second pole position of the 2024 season. Kawasaki’s Jason O’Halloran qualified in second place with fellow Aussie Billy McConnell rounding out the front row of the grid in third place.
Jason O’Halloran lead the field into Allard, the O’Show got a lightening start! Leon Haslam got into third place, just behind Ryde. Honda’s Tommy Bridewell was in fifth place looking for his first Thruxton podium.
Fraser Rogers and Franco Bourne got tangled together resulting in a DNF for Rogers. Charlie Nesbitt pulled into the pits after two laps.
Haslam took second place from Kyle, which put the OMG rider into the clutches of McConnell. Ducati’s Christian Iddon was making good progress in sixth place. O’Halloran was controlling the race at the front, with a 0.6 second lead.
After seven laps Max Cook was the fastest man on track. Iddon was up to fourth place and looking sharp. The championship leader Bridewell was losing positions and was in seventh place after a having a strong start to the race.
On lap ten Iddon took the lead, would the Ducati man’s tyres hold up after all the work they had done to get him to first place. The front pack consisted of 15 riders! with ten laps remaining to the race.
Jason took a breath and retook the lead, Ryde passed Iddon for second place. Snetterton race winner Storm Stacey was up into fifth place and in the mix.
The scrap for second was fierce, Bridewell got a second wind and was in fourth place. One rider who wasn’t in the hunt for a podium was Glenn Irwin, he was down in 15th place. With four laps to go Tommy was in third place, just behind Ryde.
Ryde made a brave move on Jason for the lead and made it stick. Danny Kent and Ryan Vickers joined the party. Tommy took control of the race for a few corners until Kyle showed his pace and retook the lead, O’Halloran was pushed back to sixth place!
On the last lap Tommy took the lead, Vickers was second, Kent third, McConnell was in fourth. The last few corners were crazy, Andy Irwin had a massive crash, Kent went off circuit. It was OMG’s Kyle Ryde who crossed the line to take the victory, Vickers was second, O’Halloran was third, Bridewell just missed out on a podium finish in fourth, Billy McConnell was fifth.
Bridewell is leading the championship standings on 229 points from Kyle Ryde who is on 203 points.
